Ut Queant Laxis, arranged by Nigel Williams
Details
Guido d'Arezzo famously set words by Paul the Deacon, making each line start on a different note, thereby starting the sol-fa system. This arrangement was written to mark 75 years in church singing for Bill Armstrong, an exponent of the method. The English translation preserves the syllables in question. Conductors may choose any of the arrangements for any of the verses.
